Pacific City (Or) - Once again the time has come for volunteers to gather in Sand Lake to help clean up the estuary.  The 2nd Sand Lake Clean-up will be held on March 15, 2008 beginning at 8:30 AM and ending at 11:30 AM.  The event will begin at the Whalen Island County Park Boat Ramp near Clay Myers State Natural Area at 8:30 AM.

In the past the event has drawn over 50 volunteers who collected lots of trash and debris.  Trash bags and gloves will be provided for this year’s event.  Suggested items to bring include drinks, snacks, and boots.  The Nestucca, Neskowin & Sand Lake Watersheds Council, Tillamook County Parks, Oregon Departments of Fish & Wildlife and Parks, Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board, Oregon Tillamook Co. Public Works & local businesses are sponsoring the event.  We are currently looking for boat owning volunteers to help haul trash back to the boat ramp.  Guides will lead volunteers to specified locations around the estuary.  If you are interested in volunteering please contact the Council office at 503-392-6134.
