Salmon fry at the Pacific City Airport
(written by Jerry Ott)

My name is Jerry...I am 60 years old. When I was 5 years old my mother and Dad took me and my older brother and sister to an annual salmon fry held at the pacific city airport. I believe it was about the year 1955. It was a fly-in event that took place anually and each side of the runway was lined up with private aircraft of visitors as far as you could see. there were a few aiplane crashes that took place that day (Sunday) at the south end of the airport. I will never forget that day as long as I live. my mother bought me a raffle ticket and I won a large 5 pound wheel of tillamook cheeze.

Our family was from the Portland-gresham area. Years later when I was 17 years old I was a drummer in a rock band called "Peter and the wolves". We played several times in Tillamook,Seaside,Lincoln city and in Pacific city at a dance hall in an old quancit building across the bridge from the north end of the airport runnway.I met a girl friend there and lost track of her. She was from the sandlake area and used to live with her grandparents at Camp Meriweather. Her name was Cathy Casey then. Cathy, if you see this message. I want you to know that I still think of you and our evening together. Cathy: Contact Me! or to anyone else who may know cathy.

By the way....I love the cape Lookout trail that goes out to the end of the cape...it is beautiful...always wondered and have never found out if there is a cave in the end of the cape....maybe someone might know....please write back.I`m also a Gooney fan if that may mean something to someone out there...ha ha! Jerry
