A Tidal Wave of Blooms
A dogwood tree in full bloom, waves of heather and thyme, lush fuchsia's and the elusive Blue Poppy are just a few of the gems that await guests of The annual Garden Tea sponsored by Esther Milne Living Memorial. The garden sets on a hill overlooking the beach at Tierra del Mar. Plantings have been selected that tolerate and thrive with the ocean influence of wind and salt. Perennial beds share space with vegetables and berries on the east side of house while on the south side large rhododendrons and maples shelter a secluded water feature. These gardens provide an inspiring example of gardening on the Oregon coast.
The annual Garden Tea will be July 9 from 1:00 - 4:00 PM at Pat Sears' Garden at Tierra del Mar. Artists joining us this year will be Lena Benson, hand woven rugs, towels and clothing; Jan Brumbeck, fused glass and beaded jewelry; Bill Clary, paintings; Candace Churchley, with crafts inspired by nature; Shelley Crowe with her unique 'Cheddarlings'; Ginny Jacobs, watercolors of flowers and local scenes; Lisa Harrison, cuddly plush toys; Cece Traylor, hand-dyed yarns and knitting. All artists will have items for sale. Gary Burman will be performing with his bagpipes, whistle and guitar and be accompanied by vocalist, Nora.
Proceeds of the event help support the Esther Milne Living Memorial. This local fund offers financial assistance to women who are working toward goals that will make meaningful changes in their lives, but need some assistance to accomplish their objective. Both The Cedar Creek Child Care Center and the Hebo Christian Center Women's Ministries will be helping to produce the Garden Tea this year. Cedar Creek is a non-profit organization that provides childcare in South County for families with children between 6 weeks through 12 years of age. In addition to daily childcare, half day for kindergarten age and after school program is offered. Their new building is located at 30720 Hwy 101S, just north of Hebo. We provide meals and snacks from our USDA approved kitchen, are certified by the state, inspected and licensed. We are an equal opportunity employer. The center is open at 7 AM and closes at 6 PM Mondays through Fridays year-around. The mission is to provide quality, reliable and affordable childcare services to our community.
